Registration on SMART Exchange™ Required
Starting February 28, SMART will require users to register and become members in order to download or upload files on the SMART Exchange website. This change will provide educators with more control over the resources they share.
Membership benefits
Once registered, members will continue to have full access to all educational resources and interactive lesson activities. As part of their account, each member will also have a My Resources area in which to edit, delete or replace their uploaded files at any time. The My Resources area also enables users to view all resources they have shared and view statistics on how many times they have been downloaded or recommended.
This update will streamline the process involved in uploading teacher-created content to the site, shortening the time from when a teacher shares a file to when it becomes available to others.
SMART ExchangeThe SMART Exchange website is SMART’s home for content and community, providing users with more than 50,000 lesson resources created by SMART, publishers and educators. It is easily accessible from within SMART Notebook software, and it adds significant value for customers who are considering buying SMART products.
Ugh. I have lots of things on my site that are linked to the place where the file exists on SMART Exchange. So now, people will have to log in to see them?

ReplyDeleteYes - they have been talking about this for a long time. They sent out a survey to exemplary educators awhile ago asking us what types of things we thought would be helpful. One of the things I thought was good (and guessing you can do it with the changes) is to find notebooks that are uploaded by a specific person. So if you can find one person you trust - you can access all of their things regardless of the subject. I think it will cause chaos at first (like on your site JoLynn), but the "my resources" piece will probably save time for a lot of people that use the site often.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know how to change from Canada to the US on this site (Smartexchange). It shows Canada for me and then when I try to search it gives me a blank page with the info at the top. I am confused. Thanks if you can help.
ReplyDeleteIn the top right corner of the main page click on the country and then change it to the United States.
